Painted en plein air in the foothills above SLC.

I went into the foothills wanting to capture the mountains in the distance however they were obscured by the inversion. So I decided to try to capture the inversion. Something that is annoyingly present here in the winter. While I was doing this I was thinking "who would ever want to buy a painting of something so ugly" but I think that it's an artists duty to capture the everyday, the good the bad and the ugly, because it is an accurate portrayal of life. And maybe just maybe an a painting of the ugly could spark action.
