I painted this “En Plein Air” on the 4th ave stairs in Salt Lake City. I love Irises they are my favorite flower and it is always a pleasure each spring to try to capture their beauty in a painting. I love plein air painting, being in the environment that you’re painting is like painting with an extra tube of paint that you didn’t even know you had until you take the painting home the next day and you look at your creation with a sense of awe that “wow I really painted that?!” It’s almost an out of body experience.
